Test

Just checking to see if this works.

Here goes: To the blurry govt. that bans freedom of speech and shamed this democracy, this one's for you.

_l_

P.S. The blogs are back up and running as usual. The ISPs have unblocked the hosting sites such as blogspot, typepad, and geocities. Praise be to Allah. The govt has acted swiftly as usual and for once, all for a good cause, thank goodness :-D

Here's my $0.02:

Fuck you, you bloody government! Burn the whole constitution and do the last rites of this fake democracy. Then, edit that sign on Wagah border and change it from, "Welcome to India, the largest democracy in this world" to "Welcome to India, a pathetically fake and anti free speech land".

Somebody nuke Parliament, man! X-(

Although I feel strongly about freedom of speech, I also wonder whether I have the right to give the birdie to a democratic process to which I have made no particular contribution - in the least, a vote. I, personally, feel I have bigger things to worry about than mere curtailment of blogging rights. Things like, participating in the process of the creation of a responsible government and in my local social processes.

Søren Kierkegaard once said:

"People hardly ever make use of the freedom they have. For example, the freedom of thought. Instead they demand freedom of speech as a compensation."

#Kautilya,
Now change the number to 143!

#Sash,
Tujhe swearing se problem hai na? Chal, since blogspot is back up and the govt and the ISPs have responded so quickly, hum swearing stop kar lete hain, khush? :D

#SnS,
Hahahaha, your comment was too funny, re! Good one :D

#Aarti,
One MORE tag??? Hey bhagwaan, humein baksh do, baba! Waise...out of curiosity...wot tag ees eet? :D

#Rohit,
Calm down and check now. All's hunky dory with the world :D

#Gemini,
The Ministry of Telecom wanted 17 websites blocked because there was political propaganda on them that was anti-India and they took these precautions because of the Mumbai blasts. The ISPs, however, do not have the sophisticated tech software that could only block those 17 sites. A couple of the sites were on blogspot. So, the ISPs did the next best thing and blocked the parent hosting website, i.e. blogspot altogether in India! This resulted in techies chainmailing proxy server sites all over the world and all blocked blogs could be accessed anyway, albeit in a roundabout way. Big deal! And guess what? Traffic to those blocked sites INCREASED...from India as well as all over the world as the news spread and the blocked sites were published! Sab ulta ho gaya! After much lobbying by bloggers and other bloggers supporting organizations, the govt has reversed the order and all's well in blogspotland again!! :D

#Perspective,
Hello and welcome! Guess the govt and then the ISPs just followed a knee-jerk reaction to the terrorist threats.

#Smiling Gal,
My upcoming weekend is more exciting than this test or that update! :P

#Arrowhead,
That was quite a speech you gave up there! Interesting quote too, but isn't freedom of thought expressed via freedom of speech? Neither can be curtailed in a democratic process. Having said that, antisocial elements are probably taking advantage of this very aspect and shortchanging the world and many innocent people are getting caught in it. Anyway, guess we all need to lighten up here a bit.

#TGFI,
Arre behena! So sorry, maine email threads aaj hi dekha, aur reply kar bhi liya, ab tumhari baari :-)

Aur haan, bahut hi dhansoo likha tumne, ekdum dhinchaak bhi! Ab koi Parsi aakar hum sab ko dhansak khilao! And this is not a PJ, I'm very serious when it comes to food, can you tell I'm a foodie? :P
